Vodafone tops nPerf 2025 list for best fixed internet performance in Egypt

Vodafone Egypt, the country's largest mobile operator, was ranked first for best fixed internet performance in Egypt in 2025 by nPerf, a French company dedicated to assisting internet users in assessing their connection quality.

According to its recently published barometer covering April 2024 to March 2025, nPerf ranks the country’s four telecom companies based on five key performance indicators: download and upload speed, latency, web browsing, and YouTube streaming.

Vodafone topped the ranking with 33,739 points, followed by state-controlled WE with 32,824 points, Etisalat Mobile with 26,443 points, and Orange Mobile with 22,861 points.

According to nPerf, Vodafone subscribers enjoyed the best Wi-Fi internet performance in Egypt in 2025, with 33,763 points distributed among download and upload speed, latency, web browsing, and YouTube streaming.

WE came second in Wi-Fi internet performance with 32,646 points, followed by Orange Egypt with 23,868 points and Etisalat with 23,111 points.

Moreover, nPerf reported that Vodafone came first in download speed at 13.29 Mb/s, web browsing at 43.22 percent, and YouTube streaming at 75.58 percent.

Meanwhile, WE achieved the best latency at 115.42 ms, Orange was ranked highest for average upload speed at 4.21 Mb/s, and Etisalat did not lead in specific performance metrics.

nPerf further noted that the competitive landscape remains dynamic. All four operators have shown substantial score improvements (over 15 percent), indicating ongoing investments in network quality.

“This healthy competition benefits Egyptian consumers by driving continuous enhancements in internet service quality across the country,” the French assessor said.

nPerf added that Vodafone has shown the most significant improvement, with a 35.3 percent increase in its overall score compared to the previous period. It emerged as the new leader after taking the top position previously held by Telecom Egypt.

"Telecom Egypt has shown balanced performance, making it particularly suitable for users who prioritize web browsing and online gaming where response time matters," nPerf clarified.

The operator has improved its overall score by 17.4 percent compared to the previous period.

nPerf also stated that Etisalat has shown balanced results across categories and demonstrated good progress with a 15.0 percent improvement in its overall score, indicating ongoing network enhancements that benefit its subscribers.

Similarly, Orange has shown solid progress with a 17.9 percent improvement in its overall score compared to the previous period, it pointed out.

Egyptian mobile internet users, including voice and data subscriptions, stood at 85.46 million in January 2025, according to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's monthly report.

Data-only mobile broadband subscriptions registered 3.3 million during the same month.

The report added that fixed broadband subscriptions recorded 11.6 million in January.

According to official statistics, Egypt’s domestic population reached 107 million in early April. Nevertheless, unofficial estimates put the current population census at a higher number.
