In a statement issued on Friday, NCHR spokesperson Ezzat Ibrahim dismissed claims that Fayed was removed over staff complaints or allegations of financial and administrative misconduct, calling such reports "entirely unfounded."
Ibrahim clarified that Fayed stepped down of his own accord, citing a personal decision to “devote himself to other duties at this time.”
He added that the 27-member council appreciated Fayed’s contributions over his three-year tenure, praising his “high efficiency and professionalism.”
Ibrahim confirmed that no investigations or internal complaints were filed against Fayed during his time in office.
According to the council's statement, Fayed submitted his resignation on Thursday, and a caretaker has since been appointed to ensure operational continuity.
The NCHR is mandated to monitor the human rights situation in Egypt, issue regular reports, and propose legislative reforms to improve rights protections.
