The group also includes Zambia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and Tanzania.

Defending champions Senegal have been drawn in Group C alongside the Central African Republic, DR Congo, and Ghana.

Nigeria, who hold the record with seven titles, lead Group B, which also includes Kenya and North African countries Morocco and Tunisia.

The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.

The four teams that reach the semi-finals will qualify for this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Chile next September.

The tournament was initially scheduled to be held in Côte d’Ivoire but was moved to Egypt last March after the West African country withdrew at the last minute, citing "unforeseen circumstances."

Egypt hosted the 2023 edition but were knocked out in the group stage, finishing third in their group behind Senegal and Nigeria. Senegal won the title, while Nigeria finished third.
