Ambassador Moshira Khattab, President of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR), and Ambassador Mahmoud Karem, Vice President of the Council, officially welcomed Hany Ibrahim, who has been appointed Acting Secretary-General of the Council.
Ambassador Khattab and Ambassador Karem met Ibrahim on Sunday and handed him all key files and documents related to the General Secretariat in line with the Council's latest leadership decision.
With the handover completed, Hany Ibrahim would henceforward lead the Secretariat's operations.
Ibrahim is replacing Ambassador Fahmy Fayed, who resigned voluntarily on Thursday.
The NCHR is mandated to monitor the state of human rights in Egypt, issue regular reports, and propose legislative reforms to improve rights protections.
