Mubarak confirmed in televised remarks that all passengers were in good health and stable condition, with no injuries reported.
He added that the group is currently staying at a local hotel. According to a statement from the South Sinai Governorate, a distress call was received at 1:30pm on Sunday from the yacht, which was travelling from Hurghada to Dahab.
Rescue teams were immediately dispatched after being alerted by authorities in Hurghada, and all those on board were safely evacuated. Mubarak noted that the Firebird, which is licensed for day trips, had violated the terms of its operating licence.
Following the incident, the crew contacted the Border Guard in Hurghada out of concern that they would be reported for the breach.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances and to prevent future violations and risks.
