In a statement issued by Egypt, the Grand Mufti praised the Pope’s distinguished legacy, describing it as one marked by a profound human presence and tireless efforts to promote understanding and rapprochement among nations and followers of different religions.
“Pope Francis was one of the world’s foremost religious figures who dedicated his life to establishing a culture of peace, fostering values of mutual understanding and tolerance, and building bridges of love through serious and responsible dialogue,” Ayad stated, noting the Pope’s strong advocacy for human dignity and social justice in international forums.
The Grand Mufti offered sincere condolences to the late Pope’s family and the global Catholic community, praying that the dedicated efforts to build a world grounded in peace, compassion, and mutual understanding will continue.
