El-Sisi also expressed Egypt's solidarity with India and condemned all forms of terrorism, the Egyptian presidency said.

During the phone call, President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt's continued efforts to combat terrorism and extremist ideologies through a comprehensive strategy that addresses all aspects of this issue.

Prime Minister Modi, in turn, expressed his gratitude for Egypt's support, reaffirming the strong and deep-rooted ties between the two nations and their peoples.

The attack in India's Jammu and Kashmir region on Tuesday saw at least 26 people killed when gunmen opened fire on tourists, according to three security sources who spoke to Reuters.

The attack took place in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in the scenic, mountainous region, where mass tourism has surged in recent years as violence has decreased, particularly during the summer months.

It marks the deadliest attack on civilians in India since the 2008 Mumbai shootings.

After offering his condolences, El-Sisi and Modi discussed bilateral relations, stressing the importance of translating their strategic partnership into tangible projects and initiatives across various sectors.

The two leaders also highlighted the need for intensified high-level exchanges to explore new areas of cooperation that align with both nations' aspirations for progress and prosperity.

In January 2023, Egypt and India elevated their cooperation to strategic partnership level.
