“Medical examinations carried out following the match confirmed these fears: Mohamed Abdelmonem has a torn cruciate ligament,” the club said in a statement via their official website.
“OGC Nice dedicates the three points to him and will do everything possible to support him during his months of recovery, so that he returns to the pitch even stronger,” the statement added.
The 26-year old Egyptian international started the game for his side before being substituted in the 67th minute after being injured, leaving the pitch on a stretcher.
In the post-match press conference, Nice coach Franck Haise hinted that the player could be suffering from a serious injury.
Abdelmonem, a former Ahly player who joined the French club last summer, has made 18 appearances with Nice this season.
While the French club has yet to announce the extent of his injury, an ACL tear significantly reduces his chances of participating at the African Cup of Nations with the Pharaohs next December.
After Friday's precious victory, Nice currently lie fourth in the league table with 54 points from 31 games, 24 points beahind leaders PSG.
