According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty outlined in the call with Powell Egypt’s efforts to resume the ceasefire in Gaza and initiate the second phase of the agreement.
He stressed the urgent need to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza. He also briefed the British official on Egypt’s preparations to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza in cooperation with the United Nations and the Palestinian government.
Furthermore, Abdelatty and Powell discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and build on the outcomes of the Egypt-UK Association Council, which was held in Cairo in January.
They also exchanged views on regional issues of mutual concern.
