According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty made the remarks during phone calls with Omani FM Badr Al Busaidi, Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi, and US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

The Egyptian FM reiterated Cairo’s full support for all initiatives to reach political solutions through dialogue and negotiation to achieve regional security and stability.

On Saturday, the US and Iran held the third round of talks in Muscat, mediated by Oman, over Tehran’s nuclear programme.

The first round was held on 12 April in Muscat, while the second was held on 19 April in Rome.

The talks seek to limit Iran’s nuclear programme in exchange for lifting some of the economic sanctions the US has imposed on the Islamic Republic.
