Egypt will experience a sharp rise in temperatures, with the mercury expected to increase by four to five degrees Celsius on Wednesday alone, the EMA added.
The authority also expects rain of varying intensity, likely accompanied by thunder, to fall on the country's northern areas during the day.
The khamsin, a seasonal weather phenomenon that occurs between February and June, originates in desert regions. It pushes hot, dry air northward across Mediterranean countries, including Egypt.
The name khamsin comes from the Arabic word for "fifty" and refers to the roughly 50-day period during which these strong winds typically occur each year.
On Wednesday, Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt are expected to see highs of 33 degrees Celsius and lows of 17 degrees.
The North Coast will experience highs of 23 degrees and lows of 14 degrees, according to the EMA.
Temperatures in Northern Upper Egypt will reach 37 degrees during the day and fall to 17 degrees at night.
Egypt's deep south, which is typically the hottest, is expected to experience a high of 39 degrees and a low of 21 degrees.
From Thursday to Saturday, temperatures in Greater Cairo are expected to drop, reaching highs of 27-28 degrees and lows of 16-17 degrees.
Similarly, they will decrease in the North Coast to highs of 21-22 degrees and lows of 14-15 degrees.
Northern Upper Egypt will see highs of 29 degrees and lows of 15 degrees, while the country's deep south will see highs of 33-36 degrees and lows of 18-19 degrees.
