In a statement issued Tuesday, Egypt’s foreign ministry said Abdelatty congratulated Abdi Ali on his appointment and expressed hope for his success in the role.
The two ministers discussed enhancing coordination between Cairo and Mogadishu to support regional stability and development.
They also stressed the need for continued consultation in regional and international forums to address shared challenges.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions.
He also pledged continued support in Somalia’s fight against terrorism and extremism.
On bilateral ties, Abdelatty highlighted the deep-rooted relationship between the two countries, elevated to a strategic partnership during Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s visit to Egypt in January.
Abdi Ali, in turn, thanked Egypt for its consistent support and praised its role in the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and broader efforts to promote Somalia’s stability.
