During a phone call, President El-Sisi emphasised Egypt's keenness on the Arab Summit's success, expressing confidence in Iraq's ability to lead joint Arab action during the coming year.
The summit, coming nearly two months after a meeting in Cairo, takes place amid significant challenges facing the Arab region. The Egyptian presidency said these challenges require stronger cooperation and solidarity among Arab countries.
For his part, the Iraqi PM affirmed his country's commitment to fostering a unified Arab stance on regional issues, primarily the Palestinian cause.
Middle East crises
During the call, both sides discussed the latest regional developments, particularly in the Gaza Strip, where they stressed their categorical rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinians from their lands.
The call also highlighted the ongoing Egyptian efforts to restore the ceasefire in Gaza. They also stressed the importance of implementing the Arab plan for the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, which was adopted during the Cairo summit.
According to the Egyptian presidency, the Egyptian and Iraqi leaders touched on the situation in Syria, reaffirming the necessity of preserving Syria's unity, stability, and territorial integrity.
Additionally, they reviewed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Iraq, particularly in the economic, trade, investment, infrastructure and transportation fields.
