Mon 5, 6:30 – 8pm: “The New Labor Law: Safeguarding Workers’ Rights or Empowering Employers?” talk is held by the AUC on the occasion of the Labor Day. The talk will provide an analytical review of the new labor law. Speakers are Engineer Ehab Mansour, Member of the House of Representatives, and Amal Abdel-Hamid, Director of the Women's Programme at the Centre for Trade Union and Workers' Services. The session will be moderated by Mohamed Basal, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Shorouk Newspaper and Director of the Legal Publications website.

Egypt’s new labor law has sparked widespread debate. Some have viewed the law as a positive step toward safeguarding workers’ rights—particularly for women and migrant laborers—against potential employer abuse. Others, however, argue that the law tilts the balance of power further in favor of employers

(The discussion will be in Arabic).
