The MoU was signed during Abdel-Ghaffar's current visit to Saudi Arabia, according to a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population.
The cooperation areas will include exchanging health-related expertise, mutual visits between experts and specialists, and organizing conferences, seminars, and workshops.

The MoU outlines enhanced cooperation in several health areas, including the following:
- Public health programmes and epidemic control;
- Therapeutic services and virtual medicine;
- Sharing successful experiences in health insurance;
- E-health applications and modern health technologies;
- Accreditation of health institutions and regulatory oversight;
- Exchanging expertise in patient safety;
- Investment in the health sector;
- Strengthening human resources in the healthcare field;
- Cooperation in disaster and health crisis management;
- Exchange and development of evidence-based guidelines and clinical practices;
- Coordination of regional and international positions on health-related issues, particularly concerning the International Health Regulations;
- Exchanging information on health legislation between the two countries.
Pharmaceutical care cooperation includes the following areas:
- Clinical pharmacy and drug information centres;
- Medication safety and quality of pharmaceutical care;
- Antimicrobial surveillance systems and rational use of antimicrobials;
- Virtual pharmacy and remote pharmacy services.
According to the statement, a working group of experts from both countries will be formed to implement the MoU's provisions and prepare an execution plan.
Additionally, subcommittees and specialized teams will be established as needed.
