The number of Palestinian children who have died from malnutrition in Gaza has risen to 57, the Palestinian Health Ministry announced on Monday, as the humanitarian crisis in the besieged Strip continues to deepen

“The occupation has not only targeted civilians with deadly weapons, but is also starving more than two million people in the Gaza Strip,”, the ministry said in a statement.

According to the ministry, children and pregnant women are being systematically deprived of essential medical care.

“The children of Gaza are being killed twice,” the ministry said, noting that over 16,000 children have been killed in Gaza since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on the Palestinian territory.

It also warned that Israel continues to block the entry of polio vaccines, placing efforts to contain the disease at serious risk.

The ministry painted a grim picture of displaced children living without shelter in dire conditions, with widespread hunger, disease, and trauma.

In a renewed appeal to the international community, the ministry urged immediate action, stressing that “saving Gaza’s children is not a choice — it is an urgent humanitarian obligation.”

In early March, Israel blocked the entry of all humanitarian aid into Gaza, including food, plunging the territory of 2.3 million people into what is believed to be the worst humanitarian crisis since the war began.

Two weeks later, Israel shattered an eight-week-long ceasefire deal in Gaza by resuming deadly bombardment, killing at least 2,600  Palestinians since then and bringing the total death toll to at least 52,567 poeple.
