El-Sisi was speaking during a meeting on Friday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, aka Abu Mazen, in Moscow, on the sidelines of Victory Day celebrations.
According to a statement by the Egyptian presidency, Abbas expressed his gratitude for Egypt's efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause.
He also stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire and the release of detainees, given the daily loss of more than 100 Palestinian lives.
Furthermore, the statement added, Abbas urged remaining European nations and the US to recognise Palestinian statehood, following the lead of 149 other countries.
He urged Egypt to support his nation in this endeavour and stressed the significance of the New York meeting, planned for 18 June, to bolster the two-state solution.
According to the Egyptian presidency, in his meeting with El-Sisi, Abbas outlined the Palestinian Authority's reform efforts. He noted that the authority's efforts to advocate the two-state solution in the US yielded "positive results."
In addition, Abbas underlined the Palestinian Authority's "extremely difficult" financial situation as Israel withholds approximately $2 billion in Palestinian dues.
Consequently, he urged the upcoming Arab Summit in Iraq to address this issue to achieve "tangible, positive results."
The statement added that El-Sisi, in return, welcomed President Abbas's reforms and emphasised the need for "fully" implementing them.
He also urged swift action to secure a Gaza ceasefire and guarantee unimpeded humanitarian aid delivery to alleviate the "catastrophe" facing the population.
