Last week, Israel's security cabinet approved a plan to expand the war in Gaza, including occupying all of the Palestinian territories and remaining there for an unspecified time.
The move came hours after the occupation army announced it was calling up tens of thousands of reservists to expand its military assaults in Gaza.
“The five reserve units that have been called up include three expected to take part in ground operations inside Gaza,” the military said in a statement on Sunday.
“The remaining two began operational activity in the north at the end of last week,” it added.
“We’re talking about thousands of reservists, but they still represent only a small part of the overall reserve system. This suggests that the first phase of the operation will rely heavily on regular forces, with a gradual expansion to follow,” an army statement indicated.
The Israeli cabinet also approved a US-led plan to control the delivery of aid into Gaza through private companies.
The UN and aid agencies rejected the plan as a "violation of fundamental humanitarian principles," including a plan from a group of American security contractors, ex-military officers, and humanitarian aid officials calling itself the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
Israel has sealed Gaza off from all humanitarian aid, including food, for over 10 weeks, plunging the territory's 2.3 million people into the worst humanitarian crisis since the war began.
Under Israel's blockade, charity kitchens are virtually the only source of food left in Gaza, but dozens have shut down in recent days as food supplies ran out.
Aid groups say food supplies are running low and hunger is widespread.
Israel resumed its genocidal war on Gaza on 18 March, shattering the ceasefire agreement with Hamas brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the US.
Since then, the Israeli army has killed over 2700 Palestinians.
Ongoing massacres
Israeli strikes overnight and into Sunday killed 10 people in the Gaza Strip, most of whom are women and children, according to local health officials.
Two of the strikes hit tents in the southern city of Khan Younis, each killing two children and their parents.
Other strikes killed a child and a man riding a bicycle, according to Nasser Hospital, which received all the bodies.
Since the war on Gaza started in October 2023, Israel has killed over 52,810 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
Moreover, it has displaced at least 1.9 million people, or about 90 percent of Gaza's population. According to the UN, many have been displaced 10 times or more.
American President Donald Trump, whose administration has voiced full support for Israel's brutal war, is set to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates this week in a regional tour that will not include Israel.
