El-Sisi made the remarks during a meeting on Monday with Osama Rabie, Chairman of the SCA, and Mostafa El-Degishi, Chairman of the South Red Sea Shipyard, to review ongoing projects and developments.
The president directed that efforts to enhance maritime and navigational services continue, focusing on maintaining the highest quality standards and maximizing the canal's operational capacity.
He also emphasized the creation of job opportunities within Egypt’s shipbuilding sector.
During the meeting, El-Sisi was briefed on the latest developments regarding the canal's navigation, including the completion of the southern sector development, which began full operations in February 2025.
He also reviewed the new Ismailia Water Station, which has a capacity of 180,000 cubic metres, and the introduction of new maritime units.
Further discussions addressed the progress of various SCA-led initiatives, including dredging operations in Bardawil Lake, the construction of new floating bridges, and the improvement of fishing harbours.
El-Sisi also reiterated the importance of localizing maritime industries to meet the canal’s growing needs, including plans for producing tugboats and deep-sea fishing vessels using advanced technology.
Despite a sharp 60 percent decline in canal revenues in 2024 due to regional tensions, Rabie assured that the security situation in the Red Sea is improving.
Positive signs indicate that full transits through the Suez Canal will soon resume.
