The call comes ahead of the expected arrival of an Israeli delegation in Cairo for talks aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement with Hamas and facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave.

According to Egypt’s foreign ministry, the two ministers reviewed ongoing efforts to secure the release of captives and detainees and ensure the urgent and unimpeded delivery of aid to Gaza.

They welcomed the announcement of the release of US-Israeli captive Edan Alexander, describing it as a positive step toward restarting negotiations.

The ministers said the move provides fresh momentum to the mediation efforts led by Egypt, Qatar, and the US and supports the broader objective of achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.

The conversation also addressed the next steps for implementing the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, prepared by Egypt, including preparations for the upcoming international conference on Gaza reconstruction in Cairo, held in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations.
