The statement highlighted Russia's recent proposal to hold direct talks with Ukraine on 15 May and Ukraine's willingness to engage in this proposal.
Egypt emphasised that the readiness of both parties to engage in direct negotiations is a crucial and pivotal step toward resolving the prolonged crisis.
The statement said it also initiates a new phase that will help address the concerns of all parties involved and work toward achieving a sustainable peace, ultimately restoring security and stability to Europe.
Furthermore, the ministry reiterated Cairo’s longstanding commitment to resolving conflicts through peaceful means and its consistent support for initiatives and efforts to end the Ukrainian crisis.
This includes Egypt’s participation in Arab, African, and "Friends for Peace" initiatives.
On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed direct talks with Ukraine in Istanbul on 15 May, hours after Kyiv and the leaders of UK, France, Germany, and Poland called for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire.
