The two ministers discussed ways to deepen trade and investment, with Abdelatty calling for more German business engagement in Egypt, particularly in energy and infrastructure.
He also pushed for expanded access for Egyptian exports to the German market.
Migration cooperation was a key part of the conversation, including the potential for skilled Egyptian workers to take up jobs in Germany.
Abdelatty said Egypt hoped Berlin would support the disbursement of the second tranche of a €4 billion European Union (EU) funding package, part of a wider agreement between Egypt and the EU.
He also pointed to Egypt's strain in hosting an estimated 10 million foreign nationals and its efforts to prevent irregular migration across the Mediterranean.
On Gaza, Abdelatty briefed Wadephul on Egypt’s role in mediation talks with Qatar and the US aimed at restoring the ceasefire and securing access to humanitarian aid.
He reiterated Cairo’s call to halt the fighting and renewed diplomatic efforts toward a two-state solution.
