Egypt holds talks with Iran and Oman on nuclear negotiations, regional tensions

Egypt’s foreign minister, Badr Abdelatty, held separate phone calls on Sunday with his Iranian and Omani counterparts to discuss the latest US-Iran nuclear talks and broader regional developments.

The conversations with Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi and Oman’s Badr Al-Busaidi held the same day in Muscat focused on the fourth round of indirect negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

Abdelatty was briefed on the progress of the talks and welcomed both sides' continued engagement.

He also praised Oman’s mediation efforts, calling them vital to maintaining diplomatic momentum.

Egypt reiterated its support for a negotiated settlement of the nuclear dispute and broader regional issues, stressing the importance of diplomacy in easing tensions and improving regional stability.

Earlier the same day, Abdelatty also spoke with US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, and their discussions covered the nuclear talks as well as the Israeli war on Gaza and the Russian-Ukrainian war.
