Cairo Photo Week’s Fourth Edition is back again to iconic Downtown Cairo (8-18 May 2025)
Organized by Photopia School of Photography, its bringing an immersive educational and exhibition experience to both professionals and the general public hosting 14 exhibitions, more than 100 speakers and 90 talks, panels, demos, portfolio reviews, photo walks, and more to explore in Downtown Cairo and Cairo Design District (5th district). The programme covers all genres of photography (Documentary, photojournalism, cinematography, fashion, food, mixed media, cinematography, AI, art direction, and more).
"Finding the View" is the theme of this year’s edition focusing on the outlook of the industry in light of the inevitable AI and the challenging economic times for photographers. Thirty workshops and portfolio reviews. And 14 different exhibitions. All exhibitions are free access to the public.
Cairo Photo Week is hosting international speakers from Getty Images, National Geographic, World Press Photo and PhotoVogue and top-line local and regional mentors. It offers talks, panels demos, workshops, portfolio reviews, and networking at affordable passes.

The Photographic Gallery
The Photographic Gallery presents the19th edition of the annual exhibition of contemporary photojournalism as part of its ongoing collaboration with the Egypt Press Photo competition. This year, the gallery has curated an exhibition dedicated solely to photo stories under the theme of subcommunities. A key role of photojournalism has long been to bring to the forefront the subcommunities that exist on the margins of society—whether these groups are united by profession, culture, sport, geographical boundary, or unique circumstances. This exhibition celebrates the work of both local professional visual storytellers and photographers, whose compelling documentation throughout 2024 has helped expand our visual understanding of Egypt

“L’Égypte, by Fred Boissonnas – A Photographic Portrait” photo exhibition is organized by Switzerland Embassy, with Bibliothèque de Genève and Université de Genève, in the framework of Cairo Photo Week 2025. Curated by Estelle Sohier and Céline Burnand, the exhibition celebrates the extraordinary legacy of the late Swiss photographer Fred Boissonnas (1858–1946) and his captivating visual journey through Egypt. Commissioned by King Fouad I, Boissonnas embarked on a photographic mission across the country to produce the monumental book L’Égypte, published in 1932 and launched with an exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society in Cairo. Although the book is no longer available and the photographer’s legacy is unknown in Egypt, over 4,000 images from this mission are now preserved at the Bibliothèque de Genève

The third edition of the “Empowerment Through Art” forum, organized by Art Today Foundation for Arts, will bring together a distinguished group of female artists from around the world, alongside ambassadors, diplomats, prominent public figures, and icons from the fields of art, media, and culture from Egypt, the Arab region, and beyond. The forum is an international gathering that celebrates the artistic achievements of women from all over the world. The forum focuses on highlighting the pivotal role of art as an effective tool for women’s empowerment, offering a multi-activity platform that includes a visual art exhibition showcasing outstanding works, panel discussions, interactive workshops, and live painting sessions. The event aims to foster cultural exchange and promote the values of peace, justice, and equality through creativity. This year’s edition will spotlight the artistic brilliance of women, featuring over 200 female artists from more than 35 countries (16 - 20 May).
