Egypt, Cyprus FMs discuss facilitating employment of Egyptian labour

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his Cypriot counterpart Constantinos Kombos discussed facilitating the employment of Egyptian labour in Cyprus in a phone call on Tuesday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

According to the ministry, FM Abdelatty praised the distinguished relations between Egypt and Cyprus during the call.

He also expressed his aspiration to elevate these ties to broader horizons, particularly through enhanced cooperation in economic and trade sectors and by facilitating the employment of Egyptian labour in Cyprus.

Moreover, Abdelatty expressed gratitude for Cyprus’ continued support to Egypt within various European Union institutions, especially regarding the European financial assistance package extended to Egypt.

The two ministers affirmed the importance of following up on the outcomes of the 10th Trilateral Cooperation Summit among Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece, which Egypt hosted in January, to serve the interests of the three friendly nations.

They also exchanged views on several regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Additionally, FM Abdelatty briefed his Cypriot counterpart on Egypt’s efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

Both ministers also stressed the need to coordinate and intensify efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote regional stability and security.
