President Trump made his remarks while speaking at Riyadh's Saudi-US Investment Forum on Tuesday.

"The people of Gaza deserve a much better future," Trump said in an unprecedented comment on Gaza since taking office in January.

In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed hope that Trump's significant Gulf tour and the release of the US-Israeli captive Edan Alexander, through Egyptian, Qatari, and American mediation, would lead to progress toward a ceasefire.

Moreover, the ministry articulated its aspiration for the release of all captives and detainees and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.

"Egypt has great confidence in President Trump’s leadership and efforts aimed at achieving regional security and stability and establishing lasting peace," the statement read.

Cairo also stressed the necessity of supporting all the mediation efforts to reach a ceasefire and ensure the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza, considering this an initial step toward implementing the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza.

The statement further urged all parties to refrain from obstructing these efforts to fulfil the aspirations and preserve the rights of the region’s peoples to peace, prosperity, and development.

Furthermore, the ministry highlighted the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state along the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Trump's Gulf tour, which includes Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, began a day after the release of the US-Israeli captive whom Hamas had held since October 2023.

The tour also comes amid ongoing mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the US to end the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza.
