According to the US Embassy, the agreement allows Egyptian students access once more to a key standardised test for admission to American universities.
The College Board will administer the digital version of the SAT in Egypt starting in June 2025. The US embassy stated that the test is already offered in its new format in more than 180 countries worldwide.
The digital SAT will be available at many of the test centres that previously hosted the paper-based version.
The embassy noted that while the updated test is designed to be more accessible, secure, and student-friendly, it continues to assess essential skills required for colleges or careers.
Furthermore, the US embassy highlighted that the SAT is recognised by universities and scholarship programs in the US and over 85 countries. It remains a trusted and globally recognised academic credential.
“As a cornerstone of the US university admissions process, the SAT provides students with opportunities to access global academic institutions, scholarships, and international career pathways.”
The embassy added that the SAT’s return is “a major milestone in supporting Egyptian students who aspire to pursue higher education abroad.”
“This resumption marks a significant achievement and highlights the shared commitment of Egypt and the United States to empower youth through education,” the US Embassy said.
Moreover, the embassy stressed that restoring access to this vital academic credential ensures Egyptian students remain competitive and well-prepared to pursue educational goals worldwide.
