Russia and Ukraine concluded their first peace talks in three years on Friday.
Their delegations sat face-to-face for nearly two hours in the Turkish city of Istanbul to discuss ending the war.
However, expectations for breakthroughs remained low.
According to the statement, Egypt described the step as an encouraging development.
It also called on both parties to take further steps toward building mutual trust, which would help achieve a ceasefire and reach a political settlement to end this prolonged war.
Moreover, the ministry reiterated Egypt's longstanding position since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war, stressing the need to resolve conflicts through dialogue and peaceful means.
Egypt also emphasized the importance of seeking a solution that addresses both parties' concerns to ensure global stability and security, the statement added.
