Earlier this morning, a suicide bomber targeted the Damanyo military base as it was receiving a large number of recruits, killing 10 people and injuring scores, according to initial reports.
Per a foreign ministry statement, Egypt offered condolences to the Federal Republic of Somalia, particularly the victims' families, and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.
The country also affirmed its unwavering solidarity to the Somali government and people.
Cairo emphasized its support and commitment to empowering the Somali leadership to exercise their military and security capabilities in the face of violent and terrorist activities, safeguarding the sovereignty of Somalia.
