Winger Omar Ossama gave Egypt an early lead in the 3rd minute, connecting with a cross from Omar Khaled to score into an empty net.
Nigeria equalized two minutes after the break when Bidemi Amole capitalized on a mistake by Egyptian defender Ahmed Kabaka.
Egypt had a golden opportunity to seal the game in injury time, but Omar Kheder’s effort was denied by the crossbar.
The match went to penalties, where Nigeria converted all four of their kicks, while Egypt missed two, ultimately losing 4-1 in the shootout.
Despite the loss, Egypt secured a spot in this summer’s U-20 World Cup in Chile, joining Nigeria and the two finalists.
Morocco and South Africa will face off in the final later on Sunday.
