An Egyptian security delegation is holding intensive talks in Qatar to secure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, high-level Egyptian sources told Al-Qahera News on Sunday.

The sources affirmed that Egypt, in coordination with Qatar and the US, is exerting significant efforts to halt the ongoing escalation in the Gaza Strip, pave the way for renewed truce negotiations, and ensure the entry of humanitarian aid.

The diplomatic push comes amid a worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, with mounting casualties and severe shortages of basic supplies.

Egypt, along with Qatar and the US, has been mediating a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas since the onset of the war in Gaza in October 2023.

On 18 March, Israel resumed its genocidal war on Gaza after unilaterally ending the ceasefire deal with Hamas, which Egypt, Qatar, and the US mediated.

Since 2 March, Israel has also blocked the entry of all humanitarian aid to Gaza, putting more than two million Palestinians on the brink of famine.
