In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a “clear violation of all diplomatic norms,” and called on Israel to provide an official explanation of the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The delegation, which included several heads of foreign missions, visited Jenin for a tour organized by the Palestinian foreign ministry.

According to initial reports, Israeli forces opened fire in the area during the visit. No injuries were reported.

Egypt expressed its “unequivocal rejection” of the incident and reaffirmed its demand for respect toward diplomatic missions and international conventions.
