Salah secured a staggering 90 percent of the votes from 918 FWA members, the largest winning margin this century, after an outstanding season in which he guided Liverpool to another Premier League title.
"It means a lot winning this award; it's incredible," Salah said during the ceremony in central London, where Liverpool legend Ian Rush presented the trophy.
"I always feel special winning this award. With that gap between myself and second place, it's just amazing," he added.
The Egyptian star recorded an impressive tally of 33 goals and 23 assists in 51 appearances this season. His closest competitor, Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk, finished a distant second, ahead of Newcastle's Alexander Isak and Arsenal's Declan Rice.
Salah is poised to break another Premier League milestone, needing just two goal involvements in Liverpool's final home match against Crystal Palace to surpass the all-time single-season record of 47 held jointly by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer from the 42-game era.

"The day we won the Premier League against Tottenham, honestly, I've never felt that happy," Salah said, reflecting on his eight successful years at Anfield.
"We have a great group of players and a very good manager. I hope I can be here again next season. I want to win the Premier League one more time and the Champions League again," he added.
Salah joins Arsenal legend Thierry Henry as one of only two players to have won the FWA award three times.
Despite joking with Rush about challenging his club scoring record of 346 goals, Salah admitted, "What he did was amazing. I think his record will be there forever."
