Ahly advanced to the final after defeating Morocco’s Mountada Derb Sultan 36-23, while Zamalek secured their spot with a 30-22 victory over Tunisia’s Esperance in the semi-finals.
Ahly dominated a tightly contested first half, leading Zamalek by just one goal (15-14). However, the Red Devils extended their advantage in the second half, cementing their supremacy to clinch the title, spearheaded by Abdel-Rahman Faisal, who was named man of the match.
This marks Ahly ’s fifth African Cup of Clubs triumph, while Zamalek finished runners-up for the fourth time, maintaining their record of seven continental titles.
The victory also avenged Ahly ’s back-to-back final losses to Zamalek in 2022 and 2023, marking their first-ever Champions Cup win against their arch-rivals.
Furthermore, the Reds completed an African handball treble this season, having previously secured the league title, the Super Cup, and now the Champions Cup by ending Zamalek ’s dominance, marking a historic sextuple after securing the three domestic titles the Professional League, Egypt Cup and the Egyptian Super Cup.
