In a televised address following a tour of Giza Governorate, Madbouly said the government has delivered over 1 million social housing units and 300,000 alternative units for residents of unsafe areas—totalling 1.3 million homes nationwide.
“These units involve state support covering 50–60 percent of their real value, including free land, infrastructure, and direct financial subsidies ranging from EGP 5,000 to 120,000,” he said.
Beneficiaries repay the rest over 20 years through mortgage financing at interest rates less than half the market average.
Madbouly, accompanied by Housing Minister Sherif El-Sherbiny, visited three housing projects: one for low-income residents in New October City and two targeting middle- and upper-middle-income groups.
He noted that most state-built units fall under the social housing programme, which has been maintained for over a decade and will continue.
He stressed that expanding access to affordable housing remains a top government priority.
During the same tour, Madbouly attended the 123rd anniversary of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority and inaugurated its new headquarters in Hadayek October.
He also announced that a national electronic system linking ambulance dispatch with hospitals is in development and expected to be fully operational by the end of 2026, improving coordination for emergency and non-emergency care.
