Wydad also named Mohamed Amine Benhachem as the team’s new head coach on a two-year contract, replacing South African Rulani Mokwena. Benhachem was previously the club’s sporting director.
The Moroccan club will compete in Group G of the Club World Cup, facing Manchester City, Juventus, and Al Ain of the UAE.
Their opening match is set for 18 June against European champions Manchester City.
Wydad secured qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing third in the Moroccan top flight this season.
Morocco's Wydad, Egypt's Al-Ahly, Tunisia's Esperance, and South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns represent Africa in the prestigious tournament.
