In a statement released on Bishop Macarius of Minya and Abu Qirqas' Facebook page, the diocese said the incident was “merely a disagreement among residents over the installation of a mobile phone mast on top of a Coptic-owned home.”
He explained that the dispute stemmed from residents' concerns about the common claims of potential health risks associated with the mobile tower.
The diocese noted that the incident damaged some installation equipment, but no citizens were harmed, affirming that the police had successfully contained the situation.
