The event was held under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Environment and the German embassy in Cairo.

It brought together senior Egyptian and German officials, civil society leaders, and international partners to reflect on 14 years of joint efforts.

Key speakers included Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam, and German Ambassador to Egypt Jürgen Schulz, alongside representatives from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and Siemens Mobility.

During the celebration, Ambassador Schulz praised the platform’s growth since its founding in 2011, describing it as a “hub for innovation and partnership” across sectors such as energy, biodiversity, and green economies.

“CCT has worked to exchange experiences, raise awareness, and foster cooperation among policymakers, business leaders, scientists, and civil society,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister Sewilam highlighted the water-climate nexus, noting that climate change reshapes Egypt’s water sector and agricultural landscape.

He credited CCT’s interdisciplinary approach for enabling innovative policy responses and enhanced cooperation with German partners.

Minister Fouad also highlighted the forum’s broader contribution to Egypt-Germany ties, saying it has addressed climate challenges, social equity, and economic development.

“This unique partnership continues to grow stronger, particularly in the face of biodiversity loss and escalating climate threats,” she stated.

A keynote panel titled “Scaling Impact Through Dialogue: International Cooperation for Climate Action” featured Ali Abou Senna, CEO of Egypt’s Environmental Affairs Agency; Peter Papert of Siemens Mobility; and representatives from GIZ and DAAD.

Papert highlighted Siemens’ partnership with Egypt on a high-speed rail network as a model for sustainable urban mobility.

Abou Senna reaffirmed the strategic value of the bilateral partnership in advancing Egypt’s Vision 2030 and National Climate Change Strategy 2050.

He credited CCT with strengthening public engagement and accelerating progress in green transformation, water management, and biodiversity protection.

As part of the celebration, CCT launched its Summer Festival at the Aquarium Garden in Cairo.

Over 20 Egyptian and German partner organizations participated, showcasing their environmental initiatives to the public and encouraging community engagement and awareness.

The Cairo Climate Talks, founded in 2011, is a leading climate dialogue platform jointly organized by the German embassy in Egypt, the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the Egyptian-German Joint Committee on Renewable Energy.

It has become a cornerstone of bilateral cooperation in climate and sustainability.
