The deal includes feasibility studies for domestic production, development of device components, and the establishment of a specialized biomedical engineering knowledge transfer centre, according to ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar.
This will increase the presence of Egyptian-made products in the market.
Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, head of the Unified Procurement Authority Hisham Stait, and Dutch Ambassador to Egypt Peter Mollema attended the signing.
The agreement follows President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's spotlighting of Egypt’s top investment priorities, which included medical devices, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, and pharmaceuticals.
In 2023 alone, Philips made 607 medical technology patent applications, making it the second largest applicant in the European Patent Office (EPO) index in the field of medical technology.
