The draw, held in Santiago on Friday, placed Egypt in a competitive group for the 24-team tournament, which will run from 27 September to 19 October across multiple Chilean cities.
Egypt secured their place in the global event after finishing fourth in the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations earlier this month, a tournament they hosted. South Africa, Morocco and Nigeria took the top three spots.
Coach Osama Nabih said Egypt are ready to “defend their dreams with strength,” describing the draw as tough but promising. “There are no weak teams at this level – every side here earned its place,” he told local media following the announcement.
The tournament features five teams each from Europe and South America, four from Africa, Asia and CONCACAF, and two from Oceania.
In other groups, Morocco face a challenging path in Group C with Brazil, Mexico and Spain, while Saudi Arabia were placed in Group F with Colombia, Norway and Nigeria.
This year’s tournament marks the 24th edition of the competition. Egypt last competed in the U-20 World Cup in Turkey under then-coach Rabie Yassin.
