Rabie, 32, is expected to be part of the squad that will feature in this month’s FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Al-Ain have been drawn in Group G alongside European giants Manchester City, Italy’s Juventus, and Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca.

The defender parted ways with boyhood club Ahly after failing to agree terms on a contract extension, with financial differences cited as the key stumbling block.

Earlier this week, Ahly confirmed the departures of Rabie, midfielder Akram Tawfik, and goalkeeper Hamza Alaa, all of whom became free agents this summer.

Rabie made his first-team debut for Ahly in 2011 before joining Portuguese side Sporting in 2014.

He returned to Ahly the following year after one season abroad.

The Egypt international made 37 appearances across all competitions last season, helping Ahly clinch the domestic league title.

He has earned 31 caps for the Pharaohs, scoring four goals.
