Tawfiq left Ahly after contract extension talks broke down.

The midfielder, who joined Ahly in the summer of 2016 from Enppi, spent four seasons on loan at Gouna before returning to Ahly in 2020.

A versatile player capable of operating as both a midfielder and right-back, Tawfiq became a regular starter for the Cairo giants.

He has earned ten caps for Egypt, scoring once for the national team.

The 27-year-old is one of three players to have declined a contract renewal at Al Ahly.

Defender Rami Rabie recently joined UAE side Al-Ain, while goalkeeper Hamza Alaa has also parted ways with the club, though he has yet to finalize a new move.
