At least 27 Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded early Saturday as Israeli forces intensified shelling across the Gaza Strip, with the heaviest bombardments reported in central areas, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Local sources told WAFA that Israeli troops opened live fire on civilians gathered near aid distribution points in central Gaza, killing 15 and injuring many others.
Israel has repeatedly targeted aid centres operated by the US-Israeli-run Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Israel has killed at least 274 and injured 2,532 since the systematic targeting of people near aid distribution areas began.
In Gaza City, medical officials reported five bodies brought to Al-Shifa Hospital, including two people killed in an airstrike on a tent near Al-Khaldi Mosque. Artillery also struck the eastern al-Tuffah neighbourhood.
In Khan Younis, three civilians were killed in a drone strike near the Islamic University, according to local reports cited by WAFA.
The Palestinian Health Ministry further indicated that since Israel broke the ceasefire on 18 March 2025, the occupation army has killed 5,014 Palestinians, with 16,385 injured.
Since 7 October 2023, Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed 55,297 Palestinians, the majority women and children, and injured nearly 128,426 others, the ministry added.
Over 11,000 remain missing, presumed buried under the rubble.
