Egypt's Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade confirmed that its strategic reserves of essential commodities are enough for more than six months, providing a significant cushion against global market fluctuations and regional events.

In a statement, the ministry said the country’s supply situation remains “stable” and that key food and consumer goods are available in quantities adequate to meet national demand.

The announcement comes against the backdrop of heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, which have raised concerns over global energy prices and the potential for broader supply chain disruptions.

The supply minister, Sherif Farouk, said the government had coordinated with other agencies to maintain market stability and ensure uninterrupted access to basic goods.

He added that Egypt is prepared to manage the impact of external developments without affecting the availability of essential items.

Farouk said the ministry has also stepped up inspections at markets and distribution centres, with instructions issued to local directorates to monitor pricing and prevent stockpiling or profiteering.
