President El-Sisi also inspected several Citroën C4X models, which are locally manufactured with a 45 percent component ratio in the factories of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) in partnership with the Arab American Vehicles Company (AAV) and Stellantis.

In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the inspection was conducted during a meeting with Major General Mokhtar Abdel-Latif, the AOI's board of directors chairman.

During the meeting, Abdel-Latif said planning for the production of this model began in August 2023. He added that technical and logistical preparations were undertaken, leading to the production of initial prototypes in March 2025.

Moreover, he noted that approximately 7,000 cars are scheduled for annual production over four years, totaling 28,000 vehicles.

According to the statement, preparations are underway for producing a new car in cooperation with Stellantis Group, with production set to begin in late 2026.

The spokesperson said El-Sisi gave directives to further strengthen cooperation with private sector companies, both locally and internationally, in alignment with the state's strategy to localize the automotive industry, increase the percentage of local components, and maximize exports of products manufactured in Egypt.

He stated that the president was briefed on the activities and projects undertaken by factories and companies affiliated with the AOI across various fields.

Furthermore, El-Sisi affirmed the AOI’s significant role in various sectors, particularly with regard to improving local manufacturing ratios, localizing industry, and increasing exports. These contribute to reducing the import bill and providing foreign currency, thereby supporting the national economy.

Egypt’s national automotive industry strategy for 2024-2030 aims to achieve a production target of 400,000 to 500,000 vehicles annually and export 100,000-125,000 cars annually, generating $4 billion in revenue annually.

Last December, Egypt’s Mansour Automotive Group and Chinese SAIC Motor signed a $135 million agreement to establish a 126,000-square-metre car manufacturing plant in New October City’s industrial zone.

The two sides also signed a technical licensing agreement allowing the production of MG-branded cars with a local component exceeding 45 percent.

In January, in collaboration with Auto Mobility (Geely Egypt), the Chinese Geely Auto Group inaugurated a new factory in 6 October City to produce Geely cars, the company's first industrial venture in Egypt, Africa, and the Middle East.

Stellantis, a multinational automotive manufacturing corporation, encompasses a diverse portfolio of brands including Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram Trucks, and Vauxhall.
