According to a cabinet statement, the committee, chaired by Madbouly, will meet regularly and consult with expert advisory groups to assess the conflict's impact across key sectors.

Members of the committee include the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and the Ministers of Industry, Trade, and Small Industries; Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation; Electricity and Renewable Energy; Supply and Internal Trade; Finance; and Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

Representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior, General Intelligence Service, and Administrative Control Authority are also participating.

The move comes as the Israeli-Iranian conflict enters its fourth consecutive day, with both sides exchanging airstrikes.

The escalation began on Friday when Israel launched airstrikes on Tehran, targeting nuclear infrastructure in its most significant attack on Iranian soil since the 1980s Iran–Iraq war. Iran responded by launching a wave of missiles at Israel, striking several sites, including Tel Aviv.

Reports indicate 24 Israelis and 224 Iranians have been killed since Friday.

On Sunday, Egypt’s diplomatic mission in Tehran confirmed that all Egyptian nationals in Iran are safe and unharmed.

The conflict also affects global markets, with energy prices surging and growing concern over the stability of international supply chains.

In Egypt, the fallout is exacerbating pressure on the domestic energy sector, as regional tensions and declining gas supplies strain the country’s electricity production.

In a statement on Friday, the petroleum ministry said it has activated an emergency plan regarding priorities for natural gas supply following a halt in gas supplies from the East due to the regional tension.
