In a joint statement, the co-chairs—along with the European Union (EU) and the Arab League—warned that recent developments highlight the situation's fragility and the urgent need to restore calm and renew diplomatic efforts.

“Now more than ever, the situation compels us to double our efforts to call for upholding international law, respecting the sovereignty of states, and advancing peace, liberty, and dignity for all peoples of the region,” the statement read.

They reaffirmed their commitment to ending the war on Gaza and achieving a just, lasting resolution to the Palestinian question through the two-state solution while also stressing the importance of regional stability and security.

Despite the pause, the statement confirmed that the conference’s work would continue uninterrupted.

As part of the process, roundtables will convene shortly, aiming to consolidate coordinated commitments and reinforce support for the two-state framework.

The co-chairs plan to announce the scheduling of the conference’s high-level segment as soon as possible.

On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed the postponement of the UN High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.

France and Saudi Arabia co-chair the conference, with Turkiye, Qatar, Jordan, Senegal, Indonesia, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Italy, Norway, Ireland, Spain, the UK, the EU, and the Arab League co-chairing its working group.

The statement was issued amid escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran, including reciprocal airstrikes since Friday.
