A foreign ministry statement said Abdelatty's discussions with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani focused on the risks of further conflict and ways to contain the situation.

The ministers emphasized the need for a ceasefire and stressed the importance of pursuing diplomatic and political solutions.

They also warned of the dangers of broader instability if the crisis is left to spiral.

Additionally, the talks included calls to revive negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme.

Abdelatty agreed with his counterparts to keep in contact and coordinate efforts to reduce tensions and return to diplomacy.

He has also been speaking with international figures recently.

On Tuesday, he held separate calls with Russia’s foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, and Ireland’s Simon Harris, who supported a ceasefire and renewed diplomacy on the nuclear issue.

He also urged restraint and dialogue in conversations with Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, and the US special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.
