The new order is part of EgyptAir’s broader fleet renewal strategy and follows a previous purchase of 10 A350-900s in November 2023. The airline currently operates a fleet of around 70 aircraft.

The Airbus A350-900 is designed for long-haul travel, with a maximum range of 9,700 nautical miles (approximately 18,000 kilometres).

Airbus says the aircraft offers up to 25 percent lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions than previous-generation aircraft.

It can also fly with up to 50 percent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with the manufacturer targeting full SAF capability by 2030.

EgyptAir’s chairman and CEO, Captain Ahmed Adel, said the order reflects the airline’s goal to modernize its fleet while expanding long-haul operations.

“This signing reflects our commitment to integrating next-generation aircraft with strong operational and environmental performance,” he said.

He added that the partnership builds on EgyptAir’s long-standing relationship with Airbus and will support the carrier’s network expansion plans over the next five years.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, executive vice president of commercial aircraft sales at Airbus, described the order as a vote of confidence in the A350.

“We look forward to these aircraft playing a pivotal role in the airline’s continued success, growth, and decarbonisation goals,” he said.

The A350’s cabin features include larger overhead bins, wider seats, and ambient lighting to reduce passenger fatigue on long flights.
