Under the new system, a parking attendant, locally known as "Sayes," must be registered with companies contracted with the Cairo Governorate to manage parking spaces.
Saber said attendants will wear distinctive light blue jackets with tamper-evident markings, echoing the Cairo Governorate's logo.
The jackets will display badges with unique codes detailing the governorate, operating region, and licensed district.
Another prominent barcode on the jackets, which citizens can scan with their mobile phones, will provide comprehensive information like area and district codes, precise parking lot locations, the name of the contracted company, the legal representative's name, and the attendant's name and national ID.
Drivers can also identify the company's commercial registry and tax card, the parking category, and hourly rates for the first and second hours.
In a statement on Thursday, the governor noted that these data aim to combat fraud and prevent unauthorized individuals from exploiting the system.
He also emphasized that all official documents issued for participating companies will carry the same barcode found on the attendants' uniforms, further guaranteeing authenticity.
Moreover, the Cairo Governorate's operations room hotline will be printed on the back of the attendants' uniforms, enabling citizens to report complaints about the attendants.
The move aligns with the country's 2020 law, which regulates the work of parking attendants nationwide by specifying parking spaces, times, and fees.
With the daily struggle to find a parking spot, the law will solve the drivers' problem with unauthorized attendants, who act like they own the streets, demand large sums of money, and sometimes resort to harassment when drivers refuse to pay.
Cairo is the first governorate to implement such a comprehensive governance system for parking attendants.
According to Saber, the rollout will commence in the districts of the Western Region and then expand across all districts of Cairo.
The initiative will help security authorities take legal action against unauthorized parking attendants and assist in identifying officially registered attendants at authorized parking locations, the statement added.
